VLC can easily play all of your audio and video, is easy to use, but more importantly, it includes a wealth of other features including no need for codecs, streaming, skins, plugins, conversions and much more.
VLC Media Player can also be used as a server to stream in unicast or multicast in IPv4 or IPv6 on a high-bandwidth network.
During the installation, you can choose file associations, web plugins, file associations, context menu items, and a few more. It installs very quickly, usually within a minute. VLC does not transmit or collect any personal data, but it can retrieve information about your media if you like. You are given the option to do this or opt out immediately after installation. You can also change this later under Tools, Preferences.
