Tech Q&A: How to recover accidentally deleted files from a USB flash drive?

Question from Otomiewo O.: Simmy, I need help big time my friend. I accidentally deleted all the files from my USB pen drive and I REALLY need to get them back. I checked the Recycle Bin and they aren’t in there. Is there anything I can do to get them back?

Simmyideas’s answer: There’s a good chance that you’ll be able to recover at least some of your lost files Otomiewo, and maybe even all of them if luck is on your side. Here’s what you need to do:

1 – First of all, STOP USING THE PEN DRIVE IMMEDIATELY. I said this because it’s absolutely critical to the success of your recovery attempt.

2 – Download and use this fantastic free program called Recuva to recover the files you accidentally deleted from your USB pen drive.

Otomiewo, if nothing else was written to the pen drive after the files were deleted, Recuva should be able to restore every one of the “lost” files. And by the way, this awesome program can retrieve accidentally deleted files from your hard drive and your camera’s flash memory card too.
