They are designed to look like emails from your bank or PayPal… some even congratulate you on winning a certain amount of money!

9. Getting your computer fixed after it has been infected with a virus can be extremely expensive… and sometimes involves the cost of a new computer. In 2004 the ‘MyDoom’ virus cost an estimated $40 billion worth of damage.

10. The more computers that have protection, the slower these viruses will spread. As you protect yourself from real-life viruses, such as the flu, it is also the responsible thing to protect yourself from the virtual viruses on your computer.

With computers now being so integral to our everyday lives, it is essential that you are protected from viruses and threats. There are many free antivirus software programs out there, however they are quite often a scaled down version of the premium product. To ensure you’re fully protected, it is a wise move to invest in the paid version; they don’t often cost a huge amount of money and will enable you to fully protect your computer, whilst helping prevent expensive repair bills in the future.
