KPMG to Hold Pan African Cyber Security Conference in Nigeria

KPMG, one of the global big 4 professional services Firms has announced that it would be holding the inaugural edition of its Africa Cyber Security Conference in Lagos, Nigeria on the 4th of May, 2017 at Eko Hotel, VI, Lagos. The announcement was made in a statement issued by Joseph Tegbe, Partner & Head, Technology Advisory & Markets, Lead, Africa Cyber Security SGI, KPMG in Nigeria on the 24th of April, 2017.KPMG Africa Cyber Security Conference With the advent of the digital age; advancement in digital technology is enabling business innovations and agility across the world. The business ecosystem is also rapidly evolving in response to the convergence of digital technologies. However, the digital evolution has introduced a new threat to enterprises – the cyber risk. Unfortunately, cyber risk is not conventional, neither are the threats it presents. With the exponential growth of digital touchpoints, the new reality is that Cyber Security now directly affects the resilience of organizations, our economy and our individual safety.

In his statement,  Mr. Tegbe said, “the conference themed, ‘Security and Resilience in a Digital World’ would bring stakeholders from across Africa together to discuss on cyber security risks, trends and threats as they affects organizations, the government and individuals in the emerging digital Africa. The conference aims to enlighten participants on leading practices and solutions for individuals and to prompt organizations to build more secure and resilient cyber ecosystems as Africa goes digital”.

He noted that at the conference, participants would be able to meet with policy makers, industry leaders and other key stakeholders in the cyber security space. They would also be presented with the opportunity to build and leverage public-private partnerships for digital Africa as they gain insights into the future outlook for Cyber Security.

The Conference would feature keynote speeches by subject matter experts and panel sessions featuring KPMG and industry thought leaders. Some of the insightful sessions slated to hold at the conference include, ‘Building a secure & resilient digital Africa’, ‘Driving effective response to emerging cyber-threat – Business and Personal perspectives’, ‘Managing Cyber Risks As Businesses Go Digital’, ‘Addressing the Skill Gap in Cyber Security’ and more.

Notable speakers and panelists for the conference include Caleb Afaglo, Director of IT, SSNIT, Ghana; Bharat Soni – Chief Information Security Officer, GTBank PLC, Senyo Hadzor – Network Information Security Engineer, Vodafone Ghana; Inuwa Danladi – GGM, NNPC IT Director; Peter Hunter – Director of SailPoint South Africa; Rakiya Mohammed – Chief Information Security Officer, CBN; Prasanna Burri – Group Head of IT, Dangote; Sylvester Yaovi Apedoe Jnr. – Director of IT, Universal Merchant Bank Africa to mention a few.
