Checkra1n jailbreak is the world’s first public iOS 13 jailbreak. It is one of the fastest jailbreak to be released after a major iOS software update released by Apple.
Jailbreak iOS 13.3! The iOS 13 Checkra1n Jailbreak is powered by checkm8, a very powerful low-level bootrom exploit. This exploit will work on every single firmware, but checkra1n won’t always place nice with new iOS 13 releases. This tutorial will show you how to skip the “Sorry, iPhone X is supported, but iOS 13.3 is not. Supported versions are 12.3 – 13.2.3” message inside of the checkrain app to jailbreak iOS 13.3. This guide will apply to every version of iOS 13 in the future, enabling you to jailbreak iOS 13.3.1, iOS 13.3.2, iOS 13.3.3, iOS 13.4, iOS 13.5, etc.
Checkra1n is a semi-tethered jailbreak, which is similar to an untethered jailbreak, it gives the ability to reboot your iOS device on its own. On each boot, the iOS device startup sequence is unmodified and it boots into its original, non-jailbroken state. However, instead of needing to use a tool from a computer to re-jailbreak the iOS device again, like a tethered or semi-tethered cases, the user can re-jailbreak their device with the help of an app running on the iOS device.
The checm8 exploit checkra1n is based on enables a semi tethered jailbreak for older devices. This means any time you reboot, you’ll need to use checkrain to boot tethered to use your “jailbreak stuff”. You CAN still reboot without a computer to use all system apps though. But to use anything from cydia, including even cydia itself, and iOS 13 cydia tweaks, you need to boot tethered via checkra1n.
The checkra1n jailbreak is based on the checkm8 exploit which was discovered in September 2019. It is an unpatchable bootrom exploit that works on all devices up until the iPhone X irrespective of whether they run iOS 12 or iOS 13 and makes them jailbreakable for life.
Right now Windows isn’t included because of driver support. Once there’s a Windows jailbreak, I’ll let you guys know immediately. Be sure to subscribe to be notified when the first jailbreak iOS 13 Windows utility drops.
The latest release of checkra1n continues to be in beta. It does not add support for any new iPhones or iPads like the iPhone 5s, iPad Mini 2, iPad Mini 3, and iPad Air. The update does support for Apple TV 4K and while you might get a -20 error jailbreaking the streaming box, the process will still be successful.
However don’t fear, this will benefit you too! Jailbreakers now have a permanent jailbreak environment, which means they can now discover new kernel vulnerabilities easier that will lead to new jailbreaks for the newer A12 and A13. More jailbreaks will come as a result of checkra1n! Seriously we’re about to enter a HUGE golden age of jailbreaking, and it’s all because of Luca Todesco and the Checkra1n team.
Sadly, checkra1n still only works on macOS so if you don’t have access to a Mac, you are out of luck here. There’s no word on when the Windows or Linux version of the jailbreak tool will be released.
