The Hisense 50A71F is the latest in a growing list of manufacturers hoping for a slice of the highly competitive affordable 4K TV segment. The TV features support for Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos, and is among the more affordable options available today with these features.
There are some strong similarities between the Hisense A71F series and the Vu Premium 4K Android TV series that was released recently, including the remote, design, and most specifications. Performance is also largely the same on the two variants.
Dolby Vision content looked best on the Hisense 50A71F, as did HDR10 content. SDR revealed some issues with colours and contrast, and lower-resolution content, while sharp, did give away some artefacts and issues with skin tones.
Sound quality is decent on the Hisense 50A71F; sound is clean, sharp, and generally usable for most content. On the whole, the Hisense 50A71F is a good Android TV option with no major shortcomings on the software and feature side.
