Freegate’s circumvention proxy / anonymity software is used by millions in China, Cuba, Iran, North Korea and many other countries. It was developed Dynamic Internet Technology Inc. (DIT), a pioneer in censorship-circumvention operation.
Many users struggle to get rid of browsing restrictions, but sooner or later they still end up in front of their computer with a long list of blocked websites. Freegate Professional lends a hand to those who cannot access certain web pages due to restrictions, providing a fast and simple way to bypass all those rules.
There’s nothing to install, and so no chance of Freegate messing up your network settings; just launch it, and after a brief one-time setup the program will connect to a few proxy servers. It will also open a browser window at a Chinese-language website (Freegate is aimed at internet users in China, though it works elsewhere as well), but there are no other marketing or adware hassles. Enter some other URL and you can browse more or less as normal.
As with most similar tools, we found a few performance issues. There were several occasions when pages took longer to load than we might have expected, or froze for a moment. For the most part, though, the program worked very well.

If you want an easy way to bypass some IP-related restriction for general browsing, then, Freegate is ideal. There’s no way to tell how secure your traffic might be, though, so we’d recommend you turn the program off before doing anything sensitive or password-protected (shopping, online banking and so on).
Features of Freegate:
- users access web sites overseas as fast as their local ones
- requires no installation or change in system setting
- a single executable file on a Windows platform
Freegate works by tapping into an anti-censorship backbone, DynaWeb, DIT’s P2P-like proxy network system.
Freegate’s anti-censorship capability is further enhanced by a new, unique encryption and compression algorithm in the versions of 6.33 and above.
No setup process required
The great thing about Freegate Professional is that it doesn’t need to be installed, you only need to double-click the executable file to have it up and running. It can also be set to stay hidden in the system tray so it does not take any space on your desktop or task bar.
Simple and intuitive interface
Its interface is very clean and easy to use and the most important thing is that the application will do most of the tasks without requiring user intervention. Simply put, Freegate Professionalautomatically detects the browser you use and applies a predefined list of websites that are usually blocked in certain countries.
Guarantees fast access to the Internet
The software solution scans for multiple proxies servers and connects to the fastest one, but still allows you to choose another one if you experience problems with the default option, as we discovered during our tests.
Have navigation history automatically cleared
Among the features of Freegate Professional, a pretty useful one can be found in the ‘Settings’ tab and it enables you to set the application to automatically clean the Internet Explorer history when you exit the program.
To end with
Overall, Freegate Professional is a great tool for anyone who needs to load websites they’re not allowed to access, but keep in mind that its performance pretty much depends on the proxy server you find. Also, the software quite easy to use and comes with enough features to satisfy the needs of the majority of users.
Note:
If you want to email Freegate through Gmail account, please note that Gmail does not deliver email attachment with “.exe” or “.zip” extensions. (Gmail explained this policy here).
You can get around the problem by changing the file extension from .exe to .jpg. For example, you can rename fg742p.exe to fg.jpg. The recipient needs to rename it back to .exe in order to run it. Last time when we tested it, Gmail delivered the file successfully.
