Africa’s leading online hotel booking website expands its services with flights’ launch for all its customers to ease travel across Africa and the World.

The N°1 online hotel booking company is now offering both domestic and international flights by major airlines in the continent including Kenya Airways, Rwandair Express, Qatar Airways, Emirates, Ethiopian Airlines, South African Airways, KLM, Fly Dubai, Turkish Airlines, Air Arabia, and Air Seychelles among others.Jumia Travel

“It’s a new step for us as we aim to be the leading African Online Travel Agency, providing best customer experience for the travelers. It is also part of our broader program to create a one stop travel shop providing accommodation, packages, and flights all on the same platform, in a bid to streamline travel in Africa,” said Paul Midy – CEO of Jumia Travel.

As an Online Travel Agency, Jumia Travel will be working in partnership with different partners including Amadeus. The service (now available on travel.jumia.com/flights) enables the customers to find, compare, and book flights, as well as buy air tickets online with ease directly from various Airline companies across the world.

“We want to offer to our customers, all payment options, credit card but also payment in cash or through mobile phone as well as the support of a local customer service  available 24/24” adds Paul Midy.

Jumia Travel aims at capitalizing on a market that is progressively driving hospitality demand in the continent. With the International Air Transport Association, ‘IATA’ predicting a strong growth of 4.8% in passenger numbers in Africa in the next 5 years, this confirms our strategic commitment to provide infinite travel solutions to travellers,“ added Paul Midy.

The company recently launched its holiday packages to foster domestic tourism in Africa. By including flights in its packages, Jumia Travel will continue supporting easier access to both African and universal destinations, while at the same time remaining keen to maintain “off-the-beaten path” travel solutions.

iOS 11 to kill support for 32-bit apps | Simmyideas Tech Hub

iOS 11 to kill support for 32-bit apps
Apple made a shift to 64-bit computing with the A7 chip on the iPhone 5s in 2013. The company since has been coaxing developers to make their apps 64-bit ready. Now, in an iOS 10.3 beta, a screenshot reportedly suggests that a 32-bit app may not work in the future, hinting that iOS 11 may finally kill support for all 32-bit apps on the App Store.

iOS has supported 64-bit apps since the launch of the iPhone 5s in 2013. And since iOS 9 came out, when you open a legacy 32-bit app on a newer iPhone, you receive a notice saying that the app “may slow down” your device and that the developer needs to update it to “improve its compatibility”.

In the recently released first beta of iOS 10.3, however, the wording in that notice has been changed. It now reads as seen in the image below.iOS 11 to kill support for 32-bit apps

While “future versions of iOS” is incredibly vague, this is a very strong hint that iOS 11 could be the first iteration of Apple’s mobile operating system that won’t support running 32-bit apps at all. If true, this will undoubtedly be announced at Apple’s annual developer conference in the summer, when iOS 11 should be officially introduced.

This probably isn’t going to be a huge problem because Apple has required developers to submit new apps with 64-bit support since February 2015 and app updates since June 2015. So this will only affect old apps that haven’t been updated in years. Still, breaking compatibility in such a manner is a move many software makers try to avoid, but Apple seems intent on finally killing legacy 32-bit apps for iOS this year.

iPhone surpassed Samsung phone sales for the first time in five years

Apple iPhone sales at an all-time high

Apple reclaimed the top spot of the smartphone market last quarter for the first time since 2011, in large part due to the release of new iPhones and Samsung’s exploding Galaxy Note 7s.

With demand outpacing supply, Apple’s iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus helped proper Apple to most iPhones sold in a quarter. With 78.3 million units sold, the company marched past Samsung to the top, a spot Samsung held for five years straight. In the same earnings call that revealed the above, Tim Cook also said that Apple is keen on investing significantly in India, including the opening of its iconic retail stores.

According to new data from IDC charted for us by Statista, Apple shipped 78.3 million units in the fourth quarter, up 4.7% year-over-year, and slightly surpassed Samsung’s 77.5 million units shipped.

IDC pointed to the success of the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus for Apple’s comeback. Apple, in fact, had a record for iPhone sales last quarter, although for the full year, it saw declining iPhone shipments for the first time in 2016. Samsung’s exploding Galaxy Note 7 phones likely played a part too, as Samsung previously disclosed the “Batterygate” cost it $3 billion in lost sales.iphone1

You can order the Pixel XL at the Google Store again

It seems Google has enough Pixel XL units to take its “out of stock” tag off its Google Store listing. It’s now back up for purchase.Pixel XL

There are a few catches, though: those wanting the 32GB Really Blue model are still out of luck, and if you opt for the 128GB model then your choice is confined to Quite Black.

There’s also the matter that Google is still showing a 4-5 week wait on shipment, so you’re still in for a rough wait if you have your heart set on it. We’re not sure why Google is having a tough time keeping stock replenished. Our best guess was that Verizon and Best Buy are eating most of the inventory up, but they’re having issues, too. In any case, if you don’t mind the wait and can’t settle for the smaller brother, at least you can get your order in to secure a shipment to celebrate the beginning of a new Spring.

5 Things you cannot afford to do on Valentine’s day

Deep in our hearts, there are indelible marks. Marks of love and affection. Marks of people who can never be forgotten. These marks are left behind by several periods of amazing feelings shared or acts of love shown. One such special occasion where many people tend to show love to the extreme is valentine’s day. The day of love as many would also put it. The 14th day of February. However, of all the things people do on this day, there are a few things you just cannot afford to do on this day. Jumia Travel, Africa’s leading online hotel booking website highlights them below.Valentine day

  1. Staying at home – Many argue that ‘’Valentine’s Day’’ is just another ordinary day and therefore should be treated as such. Whether you agree or not doesn’t stop you from doing something extra to show how much your partner means to you. Why would you even want to stay home like any other day when you can step out for a change? Stepping out doesn’t mean going to a new fancy place. You can revisit a place that brings back several beautiful memories, go on a mini vacation or even have a simple dinner in the same hotel where you had your honeymoon. Whatever the case may be, just don’t stay at home unless you have a super plan to make that day special at home.
  1. Buying a cheap gift – No gift is always better than a cheap gift. Cheap gifts only show your partner how much they are worth to you. Some gifts may be less expensive yet have so much sentimental value. Others may be very expensive and yet mean nothing to your partner. Just study your partner very well and know what to get for him/her. Just don’t repeat the gifts you have been giving them all the time. Be creative, be innovative and don’t settle for what is only affordable but what is befitting. Sometimes, you have to exceed your budget a little but your partner is worth every dime of it otherwise you won’t be going through this stress.
  1. Feeling sad and alone – Loneliness is definitely a disease. The worst feeling in the world is being left alone on a day when everyone else is sharing love. With no call, no message or no one to spend the day with. It is said that ‘’ You get what you give’’, so it is always imperative that you show love to people. Family, friends and loved ones deserve your love all year round. When you love people and care about them, you will always be remembered on special occasions such as valentines. Love and be loved!Valentine day
  1. Overspending – Understandably, we may want to impress, outshine or prove the worth of our love for that special person. This is not bad if you have the means. However, you should check your budget and look very well before you buy an item or make a reservation. When your partner is fully aware of your financial situation, trying to do too much may just ruin the whole purpose of your gift or treat. You cannot buy a cheap gift, book a cheap hotel or make a cheap dinner reservation for him/her on that day. On the other hand, you cannot overspend too. There is life after valentine’s day. You cannot spend too much on just one day. Play smart and save BIG while you do something nice.
  1. Be stressed out – A day is only 24hours. Whether it is Christmas day, New years day, your birthday or valentines day, there are no extra hours added. Although some days are treated with so much importance than others, be conscious of the fact that, the next day you will still have things to do. There will be bills to pay and a job to go to. So after months and weeks of planning, ensure that you have a memorable day filled with happiness and laughter. Retire to bed on time, save money and continue life with only good memories and no regrets. Don’t get too stressed out for just one day, there are better days ahead.

Why Nigeria’s ecommerce industry continues to attract investment

We kicked off 2017 with a multi-million dollar investment from Naspers and Kinnevik, and it gave me pause to reflect on the progress of both Konga, and the wider ecommerce industry in Nigeria.wharehouse-33linkpost

Nigeria boasts the largest population in Africa – set to increase from 180m today to 440m by 2050, with GDP expected to grow between 4.5 and 9 percent each year in between. With 38 percent of Nigerians now connected to the internet – a figure that’s on the rise fueled by a growing middle class – our ecommerce industry clearly has potential.

But reaping these online rewards isn’t straightforward. To encourage Nigerians to make more online transactions the ecommerce industry must find innovative solutions to the table stakes of online sales, such as fast and easy payments and refunds, and trouble-free deliveries and returns. Perhaps it’s the passion and commitment involved in bringing Nigeria’s strong trading culture online that makes our country an attractive proposition for investors.

When we started Konga in 2012, we knew we had to innovate to be successful. Today, I am proud of the progress we’ve made. We are a homegrown Nigerian business, tailored to our local customers’ needs and committed to delivering the highest standards of service in the market. We’ve significantly grown our marketplace to service local seller and customer needs, and we’ve built much of our own nationwide delivery network from scratch, empowering 80 local franchisees in the process, as well as building a proprietary third party logistics and warehousing service. We’ve also launched KongaPay, which has materially increased our prepaid orders and reduced friction in the payment process.

There’s much still to do, especially as our marketplace model continues to evolve around local nuances, but at Konga we couldn’t feel more positive about the future. Our latest round of investment from Naspers and Kinnevik follows their previous investments and underlines their ongoing commitment to our business and the Nigerian ecommerce market. It’s the perfect way to start our fifth year of business and we look forward to benefitting from their continued support and expertise. Of course, neither Naspers nor Kinnevik are strangers to Nigeria, having been long-term investors in the country via successful businesses like Naspers’ MultiChoice.

Looking ahead, it is our ambition to bring millions more consumers online to shop for their everyday needs by providing a superior service that means and offers something to everyone. Our latest double digit million-dollar investment from Naspers and Kinnevik will take the business to breakeven and allow the team to continue improving on Konga’s customer experience across all its offerings.a

We value our customers’ patronage and we are committed to delivering a truly amazing service to them.

Dental scaling and polishing & Stain removal

Even with regular and proper brushing and flossing, plaque and tartar will still build up over time.
Dental scaling and polishing is recommended to prevent tooth decay and gum disease, and may be necessary every six months depending on the oral condition of a patient. As infections and diseases can spread from the mouth to the rest of the body, affecting general systemic health, it is important to maintain good oral health and hygiene.Platinum Dental Surgery

Our mouths are full of bacteria. These bacteria, along with mucus and other particles, constantly form a sticky, colorless “plaque” on teeth. Brushing and flossing help get rid of plaque. Plaque that is not removed can harden and form “tartar” that brushing doesn’t clean. Only a professional cleaning by a dentist or dental hygienist can remove tartar.

Pokemon Go looks for love with Valentine’s Day celebration

This week-long special event involves more candy and more pink Pokemon.pokemon go valentines2017

Like a disappointing box of drug store candy, Niantic and The Pokemon Company are promoting a Pokemon Go Valentine’s Day special event that isn’t likely to put stars in your eyes.

On the official game blog, the Pokemon Go team says:

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we couldn’t think of a sweeter time to double the amount of Candy you’ll earn every time you catch, hatch, and transfer Pokémon. Your Buddy Pokémon is also getting into the Valentine’s Day spirit and will find Candy twice as fast!

Candy is always dandy, but the real draw for Pokemon collectors is going to be more frequently spotted pink-colored creatures.

Throughout the celebration, you’ll notice that Chansey, Clefable, and many other adorable pink Pokémon will be encountered more frequently in the wild.

It’s not the most epic update in the world, but at least you’ll have more than the 24 hours that officially constitute Valentine’s Day to collect these extras. The Pokemon Go Valentine’s Day Celebration runs from today through February 15.
