Acer C720-3404 Chromebook With Intel Core i3, 4 GB HDD

If you are kind of guy who has to manage his works mostly on internet then this Acer C720-3404 Chromebook will be best for you. Its premium looking eye catchy design and unmatched performance are the key aspects of this chromebook.

Acer C720-3404 Chromebook

IAcer C720-3404 Chromebook is light in weight and very portable laptop to help you get things done from anywhere especially as it looks outwardly identical to its best-selling bargain sibling—the same gray case and black keyboard, the same 11.6-inch screen (it’s not a touch screen as Acer’s C720P Chromebooks are), the same Google Chrome OS that updates itself and quashes malware automatically while you explore a universe of online apps like Google Docs, Gmail, Microsoft Office Online, Pixlr, and Wunderlist.

It is light in weight and very portable laptop to help you get things done from anywhere. It has ergonomically designed keyboard and accurate touchpad to easily operate this chromebook. It is powered by Intel core i3 processor which is powerful and battery efficient at the same time. Its 4GB of RAM ensures smooth multitasking between chrome apps and 32GB of solid state drive to store your important files locally on this chromebook. You can enjoy watching movies on Netflix and videos on YouTube with this laptop because it has 11.6 inch LED antiglare display and its speakers are also loud and crispy. This chromebook can run upto 9 hours on full recharge of battery so if you are looking for blazingly fast netbook with reliable whole day battery life and can manage with less storage then this chromebook is best with Intel i3 processor onboard.

Features of Acer C720-3404 Chromebook

The C720’s 11.6-inch screen offers the usual 1,366×768 resolution. It’s nice and bright—in fact, we kept it at no more than three-quarters brightness instead of sticking to the top couple of settings as we usually do—but colors look pale instead of popping. And it’s not an in-plane switching (IPS) panel like the HP Chromebook 11’s, so its viewing angles are relatively narrow: Horizontal angles aren’t bad, though you won’t want a crowd of friends to gather around sharing the screen, but vertical angles are quite prone to wash out unless you tilt the screen just so.

  • Intel Core i3-4005U 1.7 GHz (3 MB Cache)
  • Can open/edit MS Office files using free embedded QuickOffice editor or Google Docs, and can download Microsoft Office Online (an online version of Microsoft Office) for free. Cannot install standard MS Office software.
  • 32 GB Solid-State Drive (SSD); No CD or DVD drive. Cloud based device with free Google Drive storage.
  • 11.6-Inch Screen, Intel HD Graphics 4400
  • Chrome, 8.5-hour battery life

Acer C720-3404 Chromebook comes with these high level specs: 4th Generation Intel Core i3-4005U Processor, Google Chrome Operating System, 11.6\” HD Widescreen CineCrystal LED-backlit Display, Intel HD Graphics 4400, 4096MB DDR3L SDRAM Memory, 32GB SSD Drive, Secure Digital (SD) Card, Acer InviLink Nplify 802.11a/b/g/n (MIMO Dual-Band 2.4Ghz & 5GHz) Wireless LAN, Bluetooth 4.0, Built-In HD Webcam, 1 – USB 3.0 Port, 1 – USB 2.0 Port, 1 – HDMI Port, 3-Cell Li-Polymer Battery (3950 mAh), Up to 8.5-hours Battery Life, 2.76 lbs. | 1.25 kg (system unit only)

Chromebooks and the Chrome OS are getting better by the day, or at least the month. (Our time with the Acer included the easiest and most successful time we’ve had with several offline apps, as well as our first experience with Google Docs’ new ability to edit Microsoft Office files without having to upload and convert them first.) And with Web sites getting more complex and visual and apps and games getting more ambitious, it’s getting easier to recommend that you spring for all the power you can afford.

But it’s the “you can afford” part that’s tripping us up. The Acer C720-3404 Chromebook is an expensive choice among Chromebooks—to our knowledge, trailing only the Pixel, the Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 11e, and Samsung’s 1080p 13-inch model—at a time when there’s still a lot of life left in its cheaper cousins. It’ll make its performance-minded users happy, but we think that’s a niche set of users.

Acer Chromebook 15 C910 is also a good affordable chromebook for people who prefer 15-inch display for their laptop. It has almost identical specifications as the chromebook C720 but the processor on Acer chromebook C910 is 5th generation Intel i3-5005U processor so it is little bit more powerful and energy efficient than 4th generation i3 processor on C720. So, if you want little more punch of power and the bigger 15 inch 1080p display then Acer chromebook C910 will be the best chromebook with i3 processor for you. | Check full specifications on Jumia Nigeria.

Lenovo Ideapad Y700 Review – Intel Core i7, 12GB Memory, 1TB HDD

Lenovo introduces the Ideapad 15.6 Y700 Series which is an upgrade to its predecessor the Lenovo Ideapad Y50 in order to catch up with the competition for gaming laptops. The Lenovo Ideapad Y700 15.6-inch laptop strikes a balance between performance and price to offer good multimedia and mainstream gaming thanks to its sixth-generation Intel Core i7-6700HQ 2.60GHz processor and a 4GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M graphics card.

Lenovo Ideapad Y700

This is not the best graphics card around but gamers can be rest assured that they will be able to play demanding games. The laptop however has a short battery life hence you should always be ready to plug in your charger. The laptop is not that jaw-dropping compared to the ASUS ROG GL552VW-DH71, our Editors’ Choice thanks to stable performance for in both gaming and general use.

Specifications and features of Lenovo Ideapad Y700

The Lenovo Ideapad Y700 has the kind of solid specifications one would typically expect from a premium gaming laptop. CPU duties are handled by Intel’s Core i7-6700HQ that runs at 2.6GHz and can turbo up to 3.5GHz. Along with this, you get 16GB of DDR4 RAM (2 x 8GB at 2133MHz), a 1TB 5400rpm hard drive, a 128GB SSD from Liteon, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M GPU with 4GB of GDDR5 memory. Rounding the specs off are dual-band Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, and a 4-cell non-removable battery.

The Lenovo Ideapad Y700 ships with a 64-bit edition of Windows 10 Home. You also get a bunch of pre-installed apps such as McAfee Livesafe and some from the Windows Store including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint mobile editions, Photoshop Express and Twitter. Lenovo also bundles its own suite of apps, all of which are very well designed.

Lenovo Companion lets you keep track of the laptop’s health, manage junk files, update the system, and perform general maintenance. Lenovo Settings makes it easy to configure your mouse, trackpad and power settings all in one place rather than having to search for these individually in Windows. Solution Centre is a program that runs diagnostic tests to ensure all the hardware is running as it should. App Explorer simply lists popular apps from the Windows store.

SHAREit and REACHit are two programs designed by Lenovo to make sharing files and accessing your cloud data simpler. SHAREit lets you send files to another device (laptop or smartphone) using an ad-hoc Wi-Fi connection. REACHit on the other hand gives you a singular space to manage files between your PC and all the popular cloud services including Box, Dropbox, Google Drive and OneDrive. Finally, Lenovo Photo Master lets you organise your local photo library by date, location or by person.

Build and design of Lenovo Ideapad Y700

The Lenovo Ideapad Y700 looks and feels incredibly slick thanks to the black, brushed metal lid and edgy design. Lenovo has chosen to go with a stealthy look rather than light up the laptop with LEDs, and we approve of this decision. Exhaust vents can be seen just below the hinge, facing outwards, which is helpful if you have this device on your lap. The lid is quite sturdy and the display doesn’t distort when you apply pressure from the back, apart from a bit of flex, so the risk of damage is a lot less. All this metal does attract plenty of fingerprints, which means that maintaining a clean look isn’t always easy.

The 15.6-inch full-HD, IPS display has an anti-glare coating, but it doesn’t completely eliminate reflections. Still, it’s better than having a glossy panel. A high resolution at this size also means you have to deal with Window’s scaling, which causes some text and menus in certain applications to appear slightly fuzzy. This is something that’s unavoidable for now.

What sets this laptop apart from most others is that it features Intel’s RealSense 3D camera system. The module installed here is the first-generation F200, which features a 2-megapixel colour camera, an IR camera, and a laser emitter. The latter two are used to calculate depth, similar to the setup on Microsoft’s Kinect, but tuned for shorter distances. With this, you can use Windows Hello to authenticate yourself as well as apps and games that take advantage of this technology.

Coming to the base of the laptop, we have a very generous rubbery palm rest area which is comfortable and doesn’t get hot while gaming. The trackpad is wide with smooth tracking, and gestures work well. We would have liked to see separate left and right mouse buttons since this is a gaming laptop. The chiclet keys are backlit with good spacing between them. The layout could have been better though, for instance we would have preferred to have the arrow key cluster separated from the rest, and the right Shift key could have been longer as we would often hit the Up arrow while typing. It would have been nice to have some dedicated macro keys too, considering the ample space around the keyboard.

The Y700 has a 2.1 speaker setup from JBL, with two satellites facing you (the red mesh portions above the keyboard) and a woofer on the bottom. The laptop also sports Dolby Home Theatre optimisation. In terms of connectivity, we have two USB 3.0 ports; one USB 2.0 port; HDMI; Ethernet; an SD card slot; a headphones socket; and a Kensington lock slot. Lenovo’s also OneKey Recovery button can be found on the left, and needs to be accessed via pin to start the recovery processs.

On the bottom, we have rubber feet for keeping the laptop in place on flat surfaces, and intake vents for cool air in the middle. There isn’t any panel for quickly swapping out the RAM or hard drive. The Lenovo Y700 ships with a 135W power adapter and an external USB DVD writer. The company is also throwing in a backpack if you buy this laptop from its own stores. The laptop weighs 2.6kg, which is slightly heavy but still manageable.

The laptop has good connectivity as it comes with one USB 2.0 port and two USB 3.0 ports for transfer of your data. Notably missing is a Type-C port which is a forward looking feature seen on recently released laptops.  It also has a 4-in-1 SD & MMC media card reader, a full size HDMI port for connecting to larger screen, a Gigabit Ethernet jack and has a built-in 802.11ac Wi-Fi for wireless networking and Bluetooth 4.0 technology will enable you to connect other compatible peripherals. There is also a Kensington Lock Slot and a combo mic/headphone audio jack. There is no built-in DVD optical drive perhaps in a bid of making the laptop as light as possible. There is a 720p webcam above the display with dual microphones that you can use to make video calls using programs like Skype.

One thing that could have made this an ever better package is better battery life. We know this is a gaming laptop and will spend most of its life plugged into a wall socket, but considering its slim design, we feel people might want to use it when they travel too. Sadly, it’s very tough getting the Y700 to last through a workday. Upgrading the RAM or storage won’t be convenient either, which is disappointing.

ASUS K501UW Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7, 4K Ultra HD – 4GB Graphics

The ASUS K501UW-AB78 is a gaming laptop that perfectly blends general use and gaming. This is one of those systems that are powerful enough to provide a smooth gaming experiences, but eschews the random lights and logos that otherwise shout “gamer”.

It can be comfortably used at the office the same way you’d use any powerful desktop-replacement laptop to perform daily work and media tasks when you’re not playing. It features a sixth-generation (Skylake) Intel Core i7-6500U processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M gaming graphics card.

The 15.6″ screen features crispy Full HD resolution and anti-glare coating. But unfortunately, IPS technology for wide viewing angles has been omitted on this model. Also, touchscreen functionality is missing, as same as a built-in DVD drive. On the other hand, the keyboard of the aluminum-topped “Glacier Gray” Asus K501UW(-AB78) has backlight beneath the keys and the whole laptop is quite portable for a gaming-capable machine. It weighs in at 5.2 pounds and is 0.9″ thick.

Regarding internal components, the centerpiece is the Nvidia GTX 960M graphics card, which in this model comes with 2GB of video memory. Supported by the 6th Generation Intel Core i7-6500U upper-mid-range processor and 8GB of DDR4 RAM, the GTX 960M enables playing of all popular game titles. Some of the heaviest titles hardware-wise won’t be able to run smoothly on maximal graphics settings and Full HD resolution. For that purpose you can take a look at some more powerful gaming laptops, such as the Asus ROG GL502 series with faster Nvidia GPUs like the GTX 970M or GTX 1060. Another great feature of the Asus K501UW(-AB78) is its solid state drive. Besides great data reading and writing speeds, the SSD has a generous capacity of 512GB, as opposed to more common 128GB or 256GB.

The system includes stereo speakers, a web camera, 802.11AC Wi-Fi and Ethernet LAN network interfaces, two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports, HDMI video output, a combo audio port, a memory card reader, and Bluetooth 4.0.

The built-in battery has good capacity of 48 Whr, which should translate to at least around 4-5 hours of battery life under low computing load with lowered display brightness.

Acer announces the new Acer Chromebook 15 With 12-Hour Battery Life

Acer has released a new Chromebook to the market, and this one should be right in the price range for just about everyone. The new Acer Chromebook 15 doesn’t really turn any heads for any reason other than its pricing, only $199.

A Chromebook doesn’t need much to be great: good-enough performance, reliable Wi-Fi for a solid Internet connection, a reasonably portable size, good battery life, a decent screen, a responsive keyboard, and a cooperative trackpad. It doesn’t need to be a workhorse, but if a Chromebook gets in the way of you using the Internet like a normal person, it has failed at its only job. Price is also key, because for a little more you can purchase a budget laptop that runs Windows and, thus, desktop apps. (Premium Chromebooks are becoming more appealing as the operating system matures, but they’re still not for most people.)

At first glance, the new Chromebook 15 may only be good for those looking to do some light web browsing, but for under $200, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better option.

Acer Chromebook 15 Specs:

  • 15.6-inch 1366×768 Display
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB Storage expandable via SD card reader
  • (2) USB 3.0 Ports
  • (1) HDMI Port
  • 12-hour battery-life (advertised)

The new Acer Chromebook 15 CB3-532-C47C is powered by an Intel Celeron N3060 dualcore processor coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage. It’s a Chromebook after all, don’t expect to get much in the way of performance and storage.

All customers receive 100GB of free Google Drive storage and there’s also a built-in SD reader in the tablet for easy external expansion. Additional features include LED backlighting, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, BLuetooth 4.2, HDMI port and two USB 3.0 ports.

Acer has said that this is one of the few Chromebooks that’s set to receive support for Android apps but it doesn’t say when the support will arrive on this notebook. The company also promises a 12 hour battery life. Acer’s new 15 inch Chromebook is now available for purchase for just $199 from Walmart and other retailers.

Apple MacBook Pro 13 inch Laptop

The 13.3-inch Apple MMGF2LL/A MacBook Air (Newest Version) outmuscles its Core M-equipped competitors, and does so with more system memory and even more battery life. It still keeps the same classic design that other ultraportables have been attempting to mirror for the past 5 years, with some succeeding, some failing flat; but we all know there can only be one Air… Apple’s MacBook Air. It has 4GB more of system memory than the configuration we tested last year, meaning it allows you to multitask more. Given its solid performance and upgrades, though modest, the Apple MMGF2LL/A MacBook Air supplants its predecessor as our top pick midrange ultraportable laptop. See App Specs and Features.

Acer Swift 7 – the world’s slimmest laptop

Till yesterday HP proudly held the top spot with Spectre for the world’s thinnest laptop. But now Acer has produced a new model called Swift 7 which is less than a centimeter thick.

Acer Swift 7

Swift 7 has a thickness of 9.98 mm as compared to the 10.4 mm of HP Spectre. Apple’s new Macbook now stands at the third place. The laptop offers almost 9 hours of battery, Intel’s new battery efficient chip is one of the reasons for that.

As compared to other super slim laptop offerings Swift 7 has more number of ports. It gives you two USB 3.1 C type ports as well as a headphone jack.

The notebook has a 13.3 IPS panel LCD display. The company has avoided the touch capabilities on the notebook simply to achieve a slimmer size. Under the hood, it runs on the new i-series caby lake processors chips with 8 GB of RAM to support it. The laptop will be supplied with 256 GB SSDs inside.

Acer’s new offering is also very light at 1.1 kg/ The laptop will be running Windows 10 out of the box.

The company also launched a couple of other laptops along wih Swift 7. The most notable of them was Spin 7 which is just milimeter thicker than Swift 7 yet it offers Core i7 processor, 360 degree roatation hinge and touch capabilitis.

38 per cent of targeted cyber attacks involve firms’ employees – Kaspersky

A new research report from cyber-security specialist Kaspersky Lab revealed that gangs of highly sophisticated cyber-criminals are recruiting people working at various levels in IT, telecommunications firms and service provider companies to become suborned insiders allowing cyber-attackers to gain access to network and subscriber data.

This is even as that the International Olympics Committee recently announced that it was hit with 800 million cyber-attacks during the course of the just ended Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which was four time the rate endured at the London Games of 2012.

The Kapersky report showed that 28 per cent of all Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks and 38 per cent of targeted cyber-attacks involve skilled, knowledgeable and often either disaffected compromised or just plain greedy employees.

Sophisticated the criminal gangs might be but they are not above the good-old criminal stand-by’s of threats, intimidation and the use of a bit of blunt force trauma when they consider it necessary. Insider targets that won’t or can’t be bribed are blackmailed into betraying their companies because, irony of ironies, the gangs’ use compromising personal information they glean from open sources as ammunition to scare employees into compliance.

Unsurprisingly, the report said telecommunications firms and network operators are a prime target of cyber-criminals because they hold what is, quite simply, an unbelievably enormous treasure trove of sensitive data on both customers and the workings and security of the firm and ISP networks themselves.

Kaspersky Lab revealed that the cyber-gangs have a range of tactics and strategies they use to suborn employees of organisations. The first approach is to tempt disenchanted and thus potentially willing workers to betray their employers via hidden ‘underground’ message boards on the dark web or via the intermediary services of crooked ‘middlemen’ recruiters. If that fails, the gangs quickly fall back to the blackmail option – indeed, the report says that for many gangs blackmail is becoming the premier weapon of choice because it is so easy to apply, ensures continuing compliance and costs nothing to enforce.

In the US the FBI says that after the enormous online data breaches perpetrated by the likes of Edward Snowden and Ashley Madison it is easier than ever for cyber-criminals to gain access to compromising private data that can be used to blackmail telecoms fir, and service provider employees and on June 1 this year, the agency even went so far as to issue one of its Public Service Announcements specifically warning of the risk and impact of ‘data-leak related extortion”.

The cyber-gangs also have a hit list of telecoms job titles and responsibilities attached to them. Those most heavily targeted are executives who have direct and fast access to subscriber and corporate data – be that in a fixed line or mobile operator.

Stolen Dropbox passwords are circulating online. Here’s how to check if your account’s compromised

If you are a Dropbox user, you must have received an email from the app, asking you to reset your password. And it will be smart to do so, since almost 70 million stolen passwords have been leaked online. The data about the leaked was shared by Motherboard first. Now, Dropbox has confirmed the same, adding that the leak is linked to a breach which took place in 2012, which only included user email addresses. Here’s How To Check If Your Account’s Among Stolen Dropbox Passwords Circulating Online!

Worried users can easily check if their passwords are available online at The ‘Have I Been Pawned’ is a safe web page [run by Troy Hunter, a Microsoft security executive], which allows you to safely find out if you have been a victim of a breach as it checks against the databases from well-known security breaches. An analysis of the Dropbox password cache was performed and confirmed to be authentic.

Don’t  Worry

The good part is that the leaked passwords of the file-sharing service have been scrambled by encryption algorithms, which means it will require a fair amount of guesswork from a hacker to use these stolen passwords to log in to an account. In a statement, Dropbox has stated that no accounts have been improperly accessed and that the password reset has covered all affected accounts.

However, in theory, a hacker might get lucky in processing the hashing information and could access your compromised account. The term ‘Hashing’ refers to a mathematical function that turns a string of characters, such as a password, into a separate, jumbled sequence of characters. Any minuscule change hashed data leads to a big change in the resulting jumble.

Be Prepared

Hackers use free tools such as Hashcat, to turn well-known passwords into hashes. If any such hashes match the Dropbox data, a hacker would be able to figure out the sequence of characters used to derive that hash, which is the unencrypted Dropbox password. This combined with the stolen matching email addresses, could allow a hacker to log in to your account. However, even at this point, Dropbox users with two-factor authentication turned on would put another obstacle in front of the hacker.

It would be wise to secure your account as soon as possible, if you haven’t already. Safeguarding your personal information is always worth the trouble.
